If I Can Make It There…

The news of my departure from Podshow broke this morning. It is true, I am moving to New York City in January to work for Cnet TV. TechCrunch reported on the story late Sunday night before Adam Curry could make his own announcement. Nevertheless, I am relieved not to have to keep this secret anymore. I'm lousy at keeping secrets. I'll never work for the CIA. I became a journalist to tell the world what I know, not keep it to myself. Journalists do not like to keep secrets. Words to live by.
I am really excited about this move but I want to make it clear that my departure from Podshow is not an indication of the state of things at Podshow. This is just the next logical step for me and I owe a lot of it to Podshow. I was not a proven success story when Adam "discovered" me on an episode of Cranky Geeks. He took a huge chance and made a huge investment in me and I will never forget that. Adam took me to Spruce in Lauren Heights last week and he offered to continue to be a mentor to me and I am surely going to take him up on that offer. Podshow will continue to do big things, with or without TeXtra.
I am not nervous about leaving San Francisco. My heart is here and always will be. It is my home. I am not nervous about the job. I am not nervous about high rents in New York or being away from my friends. I am mostly nervous about freezing my Californian butt off!

I was on techcrunch this morning and saw that you are leaving textra. It is a sad but happy day. Sad that textra is not going to be around anymore. I really enjoyed the shows format and daily tech information. Even though I get a lot of my tech info from many sources its mostly from geek writers and bloggers your show had that everyday person point of view and opinions. I also liked that your show had stories about other things besides tech.
Its a happy day that you are moving up big time in the world. You deserve it as from the last episode of cranky geeks you describe how you write your own shows and the production and feel. Hard work does pay off. No doubt you will do well. Watch out Lindsey Campbell there is a new queen of the podcast world in your area. Hope New York is kind to you and keep this blog updated so we get to know whats up with your new show and how things are going. Will look forward to your new show. Best of luck!
Wow! Well you will freeze in NYC, and don't smile and don't be nice,LOL ...Wait, I don't think you'll lose your sunny California Personality. Just let us know when you get a new RSS Feed...
Natali, welcome to New York City. No reason to leave bumping into each other by chance-- ring me. I know the places to hang out in with real fire places. Remember, it's not about New York, it's about a state of New York mind. ;-)
Welcome to the East Coast Natali! I suggest you make a trip when you can to visit the Spy Museum in Washington DC. to work on your spy techniques. :)
Look forward to seeing your work at CNET TV.
Good luck, I hope you will still be frequently making videos. I have been following your stuff since first seeing you on Cranky Geeks & then Textra and it has been getting better and better. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do, please do write more posts and let us know what's happening.
Hey Nat,
All the best for the future. Check out this site if you have some spare time - https://www.fluc.com - think its tech related and all the rest.
GoodLuck!
Tom
Wow...that's big news. I'm sad to see textra go, but excited to saw what you do at cnet. Welcome to the East Coast. Don't worry about the cold, that's what hot chocolate (or godiva martini) is for! You'll get used to it, there is too much going on to think about it.
Good luck on the new job Natali! You were a joy to watch on TeXtra and I'm sure you're gonna rock in your new position. For all those who think that TeXtra is history without Natali, I doubt that Mr. Curry will allow that to happen. TeXtra is a property all unto itself and no one knows the value of a media property than the folks at PodShow.
Congratz and good luck in New York Natali!
Keep us up to date please!
Natali, congratulations and good luck. I enjoyed watching your show especially that "outtake episode" on YouTube. :)

Just like everybody else I'm so sad and happy for you all at the same time. Happy that your getting a great opportunity in career, and sad that your leaving the our city by the bay. Guess we'll all just have to head over to CNet to see you. Good Luck!!!
Best of luck, and congratulations, Natali!
TeXtra is great, and incidentally the only podcast I subscribe to, since most others, well, suck. You and your team are doing a great job, and I hope you'll be doing something similar over at CNet TV.
Good luck!
Natali,
We will miss you on TeXtra. I started watching you around 4 months ago after seeing you on Cranky Geeks. I love the format of TeXtra and it works well while I fly up and down the west coast using my Ipod video.
I can't wait to see you on Cnet. I think you have really improved your TV skills over the time I watched you. You're a talented person that offers a lot good tech information.
Good luck and Congratulations.

Congrats Natali. I remember when I heard you'd gone over to PodShow. My first thought was "Oh, no". I guess I just cringed at the thought of what Adam's flair for showbiz and keen sense of sexploitation (part of why AC rocks as an entertainer) would have on the image of one of the few truly credible female tech journalists on the scene right now (in the stellar company of Amber Mac, Molly Wood, and Veronica B). And, when I heard that you'd cried early on because of the crap they were making you wear, it just seemed like there had to be a better fit somewhere. CNET's perfect for you Natali. Well done.
Congratulations on the new gig! I just found out when I was catching up on all the Textra episodes from the week. I hope they manage to keep Textra going in its current format as it is one of the few sources I check regularly to get my techno/gadget fix. You and the Podcast gang have done such a great job with it. Another hope is that CNET uses your broadcasting talents wisely and keep you in front of your viewing public.
San Francisco to New York City will be no transitional problem for you. It's easier to get around town with our taxis and mass transit system -- walking's more fun too without walking up and down so many steeply inclinated streets! Rents are comparable depending where you'll live, and honestly, winter holidays are a lot more enjoyable when it is actually winter!
Keep up the great work, and thanks for Textra.
WooT! :D NYC For Da Win!!!! :D
Welcome, Natali!
Dammmmmm...
Now I have to buy cable feeds from NYC to get my DelConte fix!
Best of luck in the BIG APPLE!!

I Googled for something completely different, but found your page...and have to say thanks. nice read....
Congrats! I'll have to swing by Cnet and check it out. I'll definitely mix Textra! Best of luck with the NYC weather! I also grew up in Cali and moved to Utah and even got frostbite the first two years I was here. The last few years it hasn't snowed much, but back in the 90s and early 2000s you had to watch out!
